The UK Heat Pump Grant Scheme

Are you looking to join the renewable energy revolution? Do you hold a Level 2 NVQ/Diploma in Plumbing, or a Gas qualification, as well as the WRAS Water Regulations qualification? Then Activate Trade Training is the training provider for you.

At Activate Trade Training we now have UK Government funding made available through the Heat Training grant.

“What’s the Heat Training Grant”, I hear (some of) you ask?

‘….the new (UK Government funded) £5 million Heat Training Grant will support 10,000 trainees over the next 2 years to become low carbon heating experts – creating new green jobs and growing our economy in flourishing green industries. Grants of up to £500 will go towards training with heating manufacturers such as Panasonic, Valliant and Worcester-Bosch expected to offer additional discounts to participating trainees.’

What’s the size of the opportunity for low carbon heating experts?

The government ‘expect at least 300,000 heat pumps a year to be manufactured in the UK by 2028 and there is already a strong pipeline of investment in UK heat pump and component manufacturing, worth up to £1 billion.’

Are we sure the qualification is going to prime you for new work in a low carbon, green energy, economy?

Consider this from the Government, when outlining the change needed over the next 5 years:

“The government’s £60 million Heat Pump Ready programme aims to develop innovative solutions to reducing barriers to the rollout of low carbon technology in homes and businesses across the UK.

The 4 Heat Pump Ready projects, 2 in Oxfordshire and one each in Bristol and Cambridgeshire have been successful in the second phase of funding. The innovation programme runs alongside the government’s £450 million Boiler Upgrade Scheme, that provides up to £6,000 grants to homeowners towards the cost of a heat pump, and a zero rate of VAT, making clean heating measures even more affordable for people looking to replace gas or oil boilers in their property.

Work on installing heat pumps purchased through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme will begin in the successful projects from late December this year. The government expects heat pump deployment to reach 600,000 per year in 2028, a tenfold increase from 2021.

To meet demand, the Heat Training Grant will provide heating engineers with grants of up to £500 towards training.”

Activate Trade Training deliver a 3-day qualification in Air Source Heat Pump Installation at our dedicated training centre close to North London the M1 and M25. We can also provide WRAS Water Regulations if you do not already hold this qualification.
