Electrical Installation NVQ and Apprenticeship

We offer services for companies, groups and individuals

This qualification allows the learner to acquire knowledge and craft skills of electrical installation. It does require occupational evidence from the workplace and so is suitable for learners who currently work within the electrical Industry.

What is an NVQ?

An NVQ is a process that assesses your skills in the workplace. So to do an NVQ you must be working within the electrical industry. When you have completed a portfolio of work there is one last assessment known as an AM2 which is the final practical element to show your understanding. You will need both the Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma, the NVQ and the Final AM2 to gain gold card status.

Most people take 2-3 years to complete an NVQ however it can be completed much quicker if you have wide variety in your day to day work or if you have been working for some time and already have the supporting evidence required from previous jobs.

How is the qualification delivered?

The qualification is achieved via in-centre tutorial, with a mix of workshop and theory sessions as well as essential workplace evidence.

How is the qualification assessed?

The assessment involves on-screen examinations, practical assessments and a theory assignment

Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installation

The qualification has mandatory and optional units. The mandatory units cover electrical installation design, environmental technology systems, electrical science and principles, electrical installation craft, inspection, testing, commissioning; and diagnosing and correcting electrical faults.

Finally you will build a portfolio of evidence from your workplace and undertake the City & Guilds 2357 NVQ Bridging assignment. For more details please click the link below.

  • Understanding environmental legislation working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems
  • Electrical Installation Planning, Preparing and Designing
  • Electrical Installation Craft Skills
  • Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
  • Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment

Optional units

One unit must be completed:
Unit title GLH Ofqual Code

Understanding the practices and procedures for overseeing and organising the work environment (electrical installation)

Understand the requirements of Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018

Know the requirements to install, commission and handover small scale solar photovoltaic systems

In-service inspection and testing of Electrical Equipment PAT

Workplace evidence will be required and assessed to enable completion of your Level 3 qualifications.
