Inspection & Testing of Electrical Installations (Initial Verification)

New Electrical work requires 'Initial Verification' and the relevant certification. This thorough Level 3 qualification in Inspection & Testing of New Electrical Installations (Initial Verification) will give you the skills to test and inspect your own new work.

This is the advanced Level 3 Inspection and Testing course covering Initial Verification (new work). This qualification is highly recognised and sought after in the electrical industry and essential for notifying your own new electrical work.

The following areas of Inspection and Testing are covered throughout the course:

  • Safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations
  • Requirements for all electrical installations
  • Requirements for completing the inspection of electrical installations prior to their being placed into service
  • Requirements for the safe testing and commissioning of electrical installations
  • Requirements for testing before circuits are energised
  • Continuity, Insulation Resistance, Polarity testing
  • Requirements for testing energised installations
  • Earth Fault Loop Impedance, PFC, RCD testing
  • Requirements for the completion of electrical installation certificates, electrical installation condition reports and associated documentation
  • Safety of systems and equipment prior to completion of inspection, testing and commissioning
  • Inspection of electrical installations prior to them being placed into service, and existing installations

Candidates are required to bring

  • IET Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018-22
  • IET Guidance Note 3
  • You can bring your own test equipment and in-date calibration certificate (test equipment can be provided if required)

Course Requirements

All candidates should have a basic knowledge of electrical installation and should also possess the 18th Edition of the Electrical Wiring Regulation – Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671 qualification.
