This intensive one-day course offers a practical and comprehensive understanding of roofing systems specific to Solar PV installation. It is suitable for non-electrical personnel.

This practical focused addition to our popular Level 3 Solar PV Electrical Course is the perfect opportunity to gain the knowledge required to install solar panels on various roofing structures.

For roofers who are experienced in Solar Installation and do not require practical training we also provide a comprehensive distance learning pack for this course to be completed in your own time at your convenience, covering all the relevant subject matter but without the practical elements. If you require the distance learning option simply book up on any date and then in the notes section of the booking form just tell us that you require the 'Distance Learning Option' and we will send the pack out to you via email.

Assessment is via two paper based exams based on the subject matter provided.

On completion you will receive The Activate Trade Training Certificate of Attendance in Solar PV Practical Roof Installation.

The Solar Roof Training Course covers the following topics:

  • Basic electrical theory including safe systems of work
  • Solar PV Systems
  • Safe Working at Heights
  • Building Regulations
  • Legislative requirements, risk assessment and working at height requirements
  • Setting out the system
  • Attaching anchor points, rails and Solar PV panels to tiled roofs
  • Maintaining roof integrity
  • Inspection & Testing

Candidates attending the live workshop based course should bring PPE to wear for the practical element of the course (Safety boots/shoes, long work trousers, glasses, gloves etc are recommended).

Hours of attendance: 9.30 am – 4.30 pm.

This is an informal course that includes a short practical assessment and open book test to assess candidate learning.

Candidates will receive a certificate of attendance on successful completion.
